"The National Institute of Metrology" CJSC

  "The National Institute of Metrology" CJSC was established on the bases of "Chapaget" CJSC according to the law of the Republic of Armenia on "Ensuring the Uniformity of Measurements" adopted by the National Assambly of the Republic of Armenia on 26 May 2004 and the decision N 1032 of the Government of the Republic of Armenia on 22 July, 2004.

  The National Institute of Metrology ensures the uniformity of measurements in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and is considered the base for the development of the quality infrastructure of the national economy. The National Institute of Metrology performs metrological control, i.e. type approval, verification and expertise of the following;

  • Electrical, gas & liquid meters
  • Force, hardness & pressure measuring instruments,
  • Weighing instruments,
  • NGV filling stations,
  • Time, frequency and radio electronic equipment,
  • Physical, thermal & ionization equipment, etc.

  Legal metrological control not only ensures the safety of the RA citizens in healthcare, but also regulates seller-buyer relationship in trade. The proper operation of the System of Uniformity of Measurements can develop the qualitative characteristics of national products complying with international standards, which will promote the process of removing technical barriers to trade, i.e., our producers will be competitive at international level.

  In order to ensure the high level and quality of the results of the legal metrology activities serious scientific bases are needed. Starting from 2004 the staff of the National Institute of Metrology founded, developed and improved not only the Legal metrology but also scientific and theoretical basis of metrology in the Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the proposed requirements of international basic fundamental metrological organizations.

  In 2012 "the Institute of Radio Physical Measurements" and "the Institute of Optical and physical Measurements" were reunited into "the National Institute of Metrology" CJSC which made the use of all the scientific potential possible.

  The National Institute of Metrology CJSC was recognized National Body of Metrology in RA according to the decision 882-N of RA Government of 2012.
